Why does my computer not identify the modem correctly?

I have a billion 711 ce adsl modem/router with ethernet and usb port. When i connect it using the usb my computer calls it MSN DSL Broadban Modem. This stops me form installing it correctly. I have a normal adsl usb modem as well which when connected is correctly identified. Why isnt my billion idetified correctly? I am using Windows 98, could this be the cause of it?
