Problems with LG4320 CDRW/DVD

My CDRW/DVD (an LG 4320) has stopped being recognised by Windows XP.

It was working fine until 3 hours ago and now it does not appear as a legitimate drive as "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I have uninstalled the device and cleaned the registry but it still does not appear - any ideas of what I can do?
