Just rented my domain, now I need email there.

I have rented my domain through Godaddy, and now need advice on how to set up my email to go there.
I have heard that I can forward mail from Yahoo or Gmail, but Yahoo frequently loses mail, where Gmail shines.
So which is best? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, since I have absolutely no idea what to do next.
