microsoft word

I have microsoft word installed from office xp and having problem with a line that appears when I type.
using white screen and black font a black line hides the text you are typing.
if you change font colour to yellow you can just about see the text.
i assume this is something as simple as clearing a check box.
I went into all sorts of things from the drop down menu's but could not see anything obvious.
can anyone help please?

Is it possible to post a screen shot of it?

To dump the current screen to a file press the Print Screen button on your keyboard then go into a graphics program, such as Paint, and go to Edit, Paste, then save the file from there.
