Boot Manager missing

Hi, Anyone has this problem, in Windows 7 Proff: ater trying to start compter message appears "boot manager missinig" I then follow recommendation suggest by Windows help but end up exactly where I started. Nothing seems to work,compter repair via windows,altering bios, working with command prompts Does anybody know what has caused this, anyway of preventing it in the first instance. Cheers Dave
