Need a driver/decoder for Panasonic/Matshita DVD-ROM

I can't find one anywhere, I'm running Windows ME the computer recognizes the drive but it will not play DVD's or CD's. The model # is SR-8587-C. Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated, please help me!

To be able to play DVD's you will need some decoding software such as WinDVD or PowerDVD.

As for CD's, you do not require a specific driver to be able to access them, Windows built in driver is sufficiant. If you are unable to read CD's check the cable and also the Master/Slave/Cable Select setting on the back of the drive.

Hi,

I need to use Matshita 8121 CD-RW/DVD on WinXP, but media player doesn't recognize it as DVD drive. I cannot find any drivers on official sites. Anyway, I can use it as CD drive.
Any tips where I can find one? Thanks.

I am going to try it, however I have bad experiences with using PowerDVD. Having Windows Media Player and Power DVD on the same PC can make DVD device unusable. It has happened several times with several configurations. That is why I didn't install Power DVD on my own PC, and it has been working fine. (With TEAC drive.)

But now I must configure my friend's computer and I couldn't resuscitate it.

I suppose you mean that DVD drivers are included in these players.
Because when we got this PC, OEM German WInXP was installed and Power DVD was working fine.
After I changed the operating system to Hungarian version, DVD drive became unavailable for both Win Media Player and Power DVD.
Anyway, I am going to try WinDVD and Ravisent , and later I turn back to you if it is not succesfull.
