How to make my ThinkPad CD-ROM drive enable to write on CD ?

Dear Experts,
I have an IBM ThinkPad laptop (A20m) with CD-ROM drive on it (driver - Toshiba XM-7002B ). It allows me just to read & copy from CD, but does not allow to write on CD.
Would You, please, be so very kind and advise if is it possible somehow to make such CD-ROM drive enable to write on CD :?: too (and - may be, enable to play DVD as well) ?

A CD-ROM drive is a read only device, to be able to write to CD's you require a CD-RW drive. Likewise to be able to read DVD disks you need a DVD-ROM drive. You can get combination drives which are both CD-RW and DVD-ROM and so will fulfil both requirements.
