There's a couple of firmware updates for your DVD-RW on this page.

Be warned if used wrongly it will stop your drive functioning, in other words you do so at your own risk 8O

Didnt try downloading the drivers as suggested as the versions were completely differant sequence than I have, cant be sure which one to download and dont trust the roll back on xp drivers, anyway bought a tdk-r disk and tried burning, no probs at all how wierd is that...... to date only tdk dvd disks work in my laptop bugger eh....
