weirded out graphics.

Had some problems with my computer & went into systems and did something - I'm not sure what. Fixed the initial problem, but when I rebooted, my screen was seemingly missing pixels at least on any complicated graphics. This problem is not consistent though. Some things look okay, other things are not colored or come out very sparse. I've tried the usual - adjusting display settings and checking monitor. Do I need a new vidio card or is there something I'm missing? Thanks for responding if anyone can help.
