A21m start up password

Forgot my start up password, removed hard drive, replaced cmos battery but still the same problem, Start up shows on screeen but not able to get any further, attempted to e start in safe mode but no use, Anybody any ideas.

Hi,Read the article but surely this is about the windows password,my problem must be the actual bios password as I am unable to even start the Thinkpad from the very first screen or am I wrong inthis assumption. Thanks Dave

laptops now hold a very strong password that locks the hardware up and will not
free it untill the password is entered correcty.

its in case someone pinched your laptop they can't just get at your data.

i know dell have a master password for some laptops but IBM i am not sure if they do.
you will need to contact IBM and prove to them that you bought that laptop.

if they don't have a master password your left with one choice and that is change the motherboard as the bios startup password and bios settings are now held on two different chips

Hi, Thought that this be the case,not worth it for the trouble this causes also cost. Just use this as a spare parts as I have another same laptop,not used much as my latest computer has windows 7 ultimate. As I live next to the BT exchange speed is blisteringly fast,even on the other laptop. Thanks Dave
