I have gone to Microsoft.com and looked for this and used their solution but it didnt work, so I was wondering if there was another way to do it before I reformat the computer...

When turning on the computer I get this message:

While initializing device VXD:
Windows protection error. Please restart computer.
Press anykey to continue...

I restarted and then started the computer up normally. I get the same message. I restart once again and try safe mode, this is what I get:


HIMEM is testing extended memory...done.

there are a whole bunch of scrambled up stuff that looks like a virus has hit it plus after protection there is a blinking underscore.
I can goto Command Prompt but that is it. Everything else comes up with the first error. Any suggestions would be be appreciated

Try running a command line based virus checker such as AVG.

hmm unless I can install it from command prompt, this computer doesnt have one.

It was a custom built, generic Whitebox style... Its a piece of crap actually, we have had more problems then any other computer with this one.
