Need help with DVD Driver Please

I installed the Power DVD 5 unto my computer but it doesnt read the dvds. I get the message please insert a disc into driver d. I also can not get any cds to play. I don't know what kind of dvd rom I have. Is there a way to find out who made it? I'm thinking that I need to download a driver for it, but thats just a guess since I dont know much about computers. I've been trying to figure this out on my own. Any ideas

My dvd driver is a sony dvd ddu621. it was disabled and when it tried to enable it it didnt work. Does this mean its broke?

Try getting Windows to reinstall the driver.
