I am NOT computer savy, so please put up with me... I have a Sony laptop Vaio PCG-R505JSP my cd/dvd drive is not working properly, it will play dvds, but will not read cds.. doesnt even recognize the cds.. I dont know what happened with this.. what can I try to do?? Sony recommended I use the "recovery disk" wellllllllllllllllllll, It wont read the recovery disk!! as my son would say,, DUH!!! :roll: I have told them that in numerous emails.. I dont know what else to do!! I would appreciate any suggestions!! and please!! put them in "laymans terms"

Sounds more like a hardware problem than software :?. You can get CD cleaning kits, try one of those on it and see if it helps.
