how to up-date Avance s/card drivers

Hi all! I have just installed the Xitel audio Pro link so as to export music from the comp to stereo but alas it frigging won't work properly! The troubleshoot suggests the drivers to the sound-card need updating so a patch to release the audio path (hopefully) is included. I am confused(easily done) as to why i/tunes will play but not m/soft player also the speaker test exports to the amp as do some computer sounds but not my tv card?? Sound card is Avance AC'97 an old card obviously fobbed off on me when I bought my comp 2.5 years ago!!!
