It's needed for Windows XP with updates and the list of alleged sources
already suggested are blind alleys.

Primax have gone out of business now the colorado 9600 never really did support windows xp the last real driver they done for it was for windows 2k.

I do have a driver for this scanner somewhere in all these disk i have laying about if i find it i will upload it for you to try.

You'd get me out of a hole. This is a scanner I promised a grandchild
..and of course all my software and hardware have moved on and I've
dug around the debris without success...so I've put up a distress pennant
on here.
