CD?DVD RW

I've just obtained an external CD-Rom/RW/DVD/DVDRW. An Evision EI350A. The driver is for Windows 98 and I use WindowsXP. Does anyone know from where I can obtain an installation disc? Thanks.

You shouldn't require a specific driver for Windows XP as the built in one should work

taz is correct windows xp should find a mass storage device and load its own driver.

the only problem might be your version of windows xp the Original version did have problems with some usb ports but service pack 1 or 2 sorted that out, please check what version your running by clicking start, control panel , double click system icon ,
the first screen will give you a break down of your o/s and any servce packs installed

go online then plug the drive in windows will search it own database plus windows update for a driver.

the other problem might be if your trying to run this by a hub, make sure you use one of your motherboards main ports , these are just under the mouse and keyboard plugs.

I've done all that and find I've got service pack 2. Once again the DVD/CD drive is shown as being there when I check My Computer but when I put a disc in and try to run it I'm asked to put a disc in the drive!

Any further tips?

I haven't tried on another computer, yet. However, I've downloaded an American drive which now allows me to play commercial DVDs but it will not acknowledge the presence of other written DVDs. Any ideas on the reasons for this?
